Mary – Making Connections

Hands of The Carpenter (Hands) is grateful to the many community partners that refer single moms for automotive services. We work together for the benefit of the women. One of those partners is Work Life Partnership. Work Life connect employees with the resources they need to overcome life’s many obstacles, all while providing client companies with actionable data to help increase retention, enhance productivity, and improve bottom line.

Recently, Mary was referred to Hands through Work Life to address her automotive concerns. She works with a major medical services company while supporting her two children as a single mom, making sure they are able to get to school, work, and football practice. She was approved for the TLC Program in March 2023 and had repairs completed by Hands technicians. This past fall, Mary was involved in an auto accident and the car was damaged, but was able to be driven it on a minimal basis. The Hands team provided information to Mary so she was able to decide on a change.

Hands was able to place her in an affordable 2013 Ford Escape in last month that had been donated and prepared in Hands’ shop. Mary mentioned how much loves her newer car and that she appreciates the Hands team members’ friendliness saying, “They care about people. They try to help.”

Every week, women make their way to Hands through caring connections from nonprofits, churches, human services departments, and by word of mouth. Single moms are able to take care of their responsibilities, fulfill dreams for themselves and their children, and achieve self-sufficiency because someone cared.

Thanks to everyone who helps Hands of The Carpenter provide hope through transportation! Your generosity via gifts, car donations, volunteer hours and more allow us to reach more local women in need.
