April: Grateful for a Safe and Reliable Car

April is a single mother of two wonderful children, ages 6 and 15. Over a year ago she parted from an abusive relationship and has been making strides towards full recovery. Being a single parent and having two children to raise on her own, it was important to have a reliable vehicle for transportation. She bought one on Craigslist, hoping that it would prove to be dependable and safe. Unfortunately, it proved to be costly to maintain and repair and was deemed unsafe in the end. April wondered how she could provide reliable transportation for her family.

She learned of Hands of The Carpenter’s Vehicle Placement program through the Deb Reed Family Partnerhsip at the Village North Preschool. April applied for the Hands placement program and was recently placed with a vehicle! She said, “Having a vehicle greatly helps my family and myself to have a reliable vehicle and not having to worry about driving an unsafe vehicle on the road.”

April works full-time as a para-professional for Littleton Public Schools and enjoys what she does. She has been able to maintain her employment through the CoVID-19 Stay-At-Home order by assisting with students who are participating in online studies through the school.

April is incredibly thankful to the entire Hands community and when things get back to normal, she is grateful to know that she has a safe vehicle to transport her family to school and run errands.

Thanks to everyone who helps Hands of The Carpenter provide hope through transportation! Your generosity via gifts, car donations, volunteer hours and more allow us to reach more local women in need.
