Josezette watched with anticipation as the guests at Hands’ Heart of Hope Gala followed Automotive Services Director, Crystal Scott, as she counted down: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!!! The car cover was thrust into the air by the Automotive Services Team, revealing her new 2013 Ford Edge. Standing nearby were Kathryn and Chris ready to hand the car keys to her. In July, they donated their sturdy vehicle, and the Hands team went to work preparing it for a single mom. Josezette was that woman.
Josezette came to Hands in May 2023 with a car that had too many problems to fix. In fact, she was surprised when the team didn’t want to work much on the car and take her money, saying a better use of the funds would be for a better car. She was accepted into the Lift UP Program and placed on the wait list. As a working mother of two children, ages 9 and 6 months, she was in desperate need of a reliable vehicle. After the Gala event, she sent this note:
“Receiving support from Hands has been the best thing that has happened to me since moving to Colorado, after losing my last vehicle at the end of 2022 my world began to fall part. Hands gave me the opportunity to rebuild a better quality life for my babies and me. Doing the placement at the Gala showed me that there are still a lot of genuine people who are dedicated to support single mothers regardless of our situation. My placement with Hands gave me the security and the confidence to be back on the road with a safe reliable truck and ability to continue to work hard to provide a better life for us! My biggest thanks is to Dan and his wife; my first point of contact, Autumn; to Shawn; and my good friend Crystal and all the back-end staff who made this happen for myself and babies.”
