Jessica – Hands Said “Yes”!

Jessica is a single mom of two high school teenage boys. Her oldest, who recently turned 18, has dealt with various mental health struggles, which has been a constant concern for quite a few years. Jessica works with a commercial lighting company, where she has been for the past seven years. She provides customer service to both the manufacturers and to the clients.

Jessica was referred to Hands this past September. The Automotive Team did some safety repairs on her car, but ultimately found that the engine had a major knocking noise and was on its last leg. They recommended to her to get out of the vehicle since no further repairs would be worth doing. Jessica was deeply grateful for the Team’s clear explanation of her car’s condition and the empathy they showed while discussing options regarding her next vehicle. On October 13th, Jessica was placed in a 2012 Honda CRV, that had been donated to Hands, with an affordable three-year financing package.

Being a working single mom needing to transport the boys to two different schools, get one to sports activities, and the other to doctor and therapist appointments, Jessica absolutely needed a reliable vehicle. She highly values her work and is grateful. Yet, has been frustrated to not be eligible for assistance because she brings in a little too much income. Jessica was hesitant to apply to Hands because she didn’t want to be disappointed again. She was overjoyed when the Hands team said yes to helping her with her previous car, by making it possible to obtain a better vehicle, and saying we would be with her for three years. We are deeply grateful for having had the opportunity this year to exceed our goal to serve 565 clients by saying “yes, we are here to keep you on the road.”

Thanks to everyone who helps Hands of The Carpenter provide hope through transportation! Your generosity via gifts, car donations, volunteer hours and more allow us to reach more local women in need.
