Erin’s story began in September 2021 when she approached Hands of The Carpenter with a car that required major repairs. After enrolling in the TLC Program, she received essential services to keep her car functional. However, Hands staff advised her that finding a more reliable vehicle would be a better investment.
At the time, two barriers stood in the way of a donated vehicle. First, the LiftUp Program required her to find full-time employment, and second, there remained a long waiting list of single moms needing assistance. Undaunted, Erin continued her search for a full-time job, finally securing one in April 2022. She diligently submitted her pay stubs to Hands to demonstrate her financial stability.
In a powerful display of community spirit, a local women’s organization called Extraordinary Women, led by Kami Guildner, has come together to make a significant difference in the lives of women in need. By raising funds to provide vehicle donations, Extraordinary Women has been instrumental in supporting individuals like Erin, a devoted single mom of two and part-time PARA Educator in Jefferson County Schools.
In an inspiring act of solidarity, Kami Guildner’s Extraordinary Women group stepped in to make a difference. The organization’s fundraising efforts enabled Hands to acquire and prepare a 2010 Subaru Forester for Erin. On March 9, 2023, Erin’s patience and perseverance were rewarded with the new vehicle, and Kami was present to share in the joyous moment.
Erin’s story is a shining example of the positive impact that groups like Extraordinary Women can have on their community. By supporting women in need, Kami Guildner and her organization are not only changing lives but also inspiring others to join in their mission of empowerment and hope.
