Dernesha is a single parent who works full-time to support five children from ages 16 to 7 years old. She has known the difficulty of having to transport her children on buses, and or ask for rides. As a single mom, it is very important for her to have a safe and reliable vehicle to get to work and transport her children to and from different schools and their afterschool activities each week.
While getting support from CrossPurpose Denver, a Hands nonprofit partner, Dernesha learned about Hands and quickly applied for a vehicle placement when her previous car stopped working. She was so grateful to Hands and appreciated the work done to find the right vehicle for her family.
On October 19th, Dernesha was placed in a 2012 Ford Expedition that was beyond her imagination and caused her to be “overwhelmed with joy of the amount of space in the vehicle for her 5 children.” She drove out of the parking lot with a smile and gratitude for hew new vehicle and knowing it would be cared for in Hands Lift UP program for three years.
